Why wooden floors are all the fashion for luxury brands

When the world’s luxury shops, hotels and restaurants receive a facelift, one of the first things the designers often look for is a quality wooden floor.

They know that the style, elegance and durability of natural wood play a crucial part in achieving the perfect look.

An amazingly versatile product, wood can create an atmosphere of tradition, stability and class. Alternatively, it can give the most contemporary, design-led look that is straight out of the fashion pages.

It all depends on the choice of wood, how it is finished and how it is cut and laid.

Luxury clothing brand Hackett recently selected a new wooden floor for its largest and most high profile store in Regent Street, London.

The rustic, white-toned Oak Maggiore was chosen to reflect Hackett’s brand values – authenticity, heritage and style.

Created by Swedish manufacturer Kahrs, the floor has a brushed, hand-scraped and bevelled finish that beautifully shows off its natural grain. A white oil pre-finish gives a tactile and durable surface and a modern feel.

The flooring provides the perfect backdrop for Hackett’s “Essential British Kit”, a collection with global appeal that takes the classic tailoring of Savile Row and gives it a modern, sometimes quirky twist.

In Dublin, two more Kahrs designs were used during the refurbishment of Clerys, one of the oldest and most famous department stores in the Irish capital. Two styles of Kahrs oak flooring were used to provide a sensitive, yet stylish result.

The designers who commissioned the new floors praised its “stunning finish” and said it was hard-wearing and easy to install, as well as being in keeping with the rest of the sensitive refurbishment of an historic building.

While renovating an iconic Dublin landmark or a three-storey building in the heart of London’s West End is an expert job that costs millions of pounds, the same quality wooden flooring can be supplied for your home by 1926 Trading.

We are one of Kahrs’ authorised dealers and can supply the Oak Maggiore floor, as well as many others, for professional fitting in your home.

Part of Kahrs’ popular Da Capo range, it is an engineered wood floor that is hard-wearing, eco-friendly and long-lasting. It comes with a 20-year guarantee.

As well as Kahrs’ award-winning range, we also stock real wood floors from Danetre and BerryAlloc and laminate flooring by Elesgo. We can also supply doors, accessories and underfloor heating.

We are one of the country’s leading distributors of wood flooring, doors and carpet tiles and have the expert staff and experience to help you achieve your vision.

While the scale of your job may be somewhat smaller than Hackett’s, the result will be the same: quality, style and aesthetic beauty.
