Kährs has been voted ‘Best Solid/Engineered Wood Manufacturer’ for the second consecutive year, by readers of Interiors Monthly magazine. The second award to be received by the manufacturer this year, Kährs was judged on a range of criteria including quality, service, value and commercial success. The award follows earlier success in the CFJ/CFA Flooring Industry Awards, where Kährs won the Hardwood Flooring Category, for its entire range, for the ninth time.
Offering an extensive range of wood floors, for both the domestic and contract markets, Kährs award-winning product format is based on the original eco-friendly ‘parquet’ design – invented and patented by the company in 1941. The first wood flooring manufacturer to boast an entirely solvent-free production, Kährs’ environmental approach has transformed wood flooring production globally. Every aspect of its production is geared with the environment in mind - from the proximity of its sustainable timber stock and its rigid replanting policy, to the multi-layered, climate-stable construction and finish of its floors. During manufacture, wood that cannot be used is converted into bio-fuel, providing heat for its plant and neighbouring town and waste ash, in turn, is returned to the forest to fertilise the soil.
New Kährs innovations include its new glueless Woodloc® 5S joint which promotes a faster, simpler installation, whilst eliminating gapping and providing a stronger joint across a single area. Meanwhile, new 2010 products include its Artisan and Supreme Ranges; collections of oak floors featuring handscraped, colour-washed and brushed finishes, used in combination with a range of water-based stains and solvent-free surface treatments. |
